Wood machinist / Bench Joiner
About the opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen due to upcoming retirements to join our progressive and innovative family business. We are looking for hardworking and dedicated members with a can-do attitude. Everything we produce is completely bespoke and made with love and care so attention to detail is vital as is a desire for right first-time production.
Role responsibilities
- Operate all production equipment including hand, power & commercial equipment in line with training and company procedures as directed by the Factory Supervisor.
- Assemble kits of machined parts and machine & assemble bespoke products from engineering drawings.
- To carry out regular checks & maintenance of equipment in line with company process.
- Work from engineering drawings and advise on materials required for the order and construction method, checking and amending drawings & production paperwork as required.
- Work with the team on new product and build prototypes
- Ensure sufficient tooling is available and manage tool maintenance with our outside supplier
- Work as part of a team
- Follow company production and assembly standards
- Keep the factory, warehouse and outside space in a tidy and safe state of operation.
Additional responsibilities
- Write and modify programmes as required for production and design changes
- Ensure standard programmes are backed up to the server on a regular basis.
Key skills and attributes
- CNC experience on Homag & SCM machines
- Experience of WoodWop and Maestro software to enable programming of CNC machines
- Knowledge of common panel production machinery, beam saw, edgebander etc.
- Fit and able to carry product
- NVQ L2 or equivalent in Bench Joinery
- Driving licence
- Fork lift licence (Desirable – not essential)
- Good communication skills
Role details
- Salary: Competitive
- Hours: Full-time – 40 hour week
- Schedule: Monday to Thursday 8am – 5pm, Friday 8am – 2:30pm
- Opportunities for overtime during busy periods
- Role based: Boroughbridge
- Contract type: Permanent
- Annual leave: 30 days holiday (including the bank holidays), (rising to 33) with the option to purchase an extra 3 days
